This project was a full-blown kitchen remodel. The kitchen was opened up by removing some walls providing a true open-concept floor plan. The design was created in Diamond Intrigue cabinetry in the finishes of Extra White & Peppercorn. Stacked wall cabinets were used to provide a more proportionate ratio between cabinet height and ceiling height and to maximize storage in a relatively small kitchen. The large island provides seating for four and affords an ample work area. On the client's wish list was a coffee bar with a beverage refrigerator. The one designed for this project met that expectation with a dramatic flair.
This kitchen was featured on the MasterBrand Pinterest page & on the homepage of their website. Please see "Awards & Accomplishments."
This was one of the many projects that I've worked on where the homeowner's had been to other design companies before they ended up at my desk. They had a very clear-cut idea of what they wanted and exactly where the appliances and plumbing were going to be located. After listening very careful to the client's wants and needs I scheduled them for a follow up visit & went to work on their design. They then came back for the design review at which time they were awe struck. They had said that I created the kitchen of their dreams that they could not have even imagined. I asked them what needed to be changed..... they said "nothing." That never happens in this business, as we know! There is always a tweak or some sort of modification, but not this time. Nailed in on the first try! This resulted in a huge sale that included Schuler cabinets, installation services and over 110 square feet of countertops. The two massive islands required "Jumbo" slabs for a seamless installation. This kitchen was featured on the countertop fabricators Instagram page. Most importantly, at the end of the day, it resulted in very, very happy clients.
This was another project where the client had started their search for a kitchen designer elsewhere. After the initial consultation it was clear that this homeowner & I were going to be friends. We connected instantly & collaborated on designing the kitchen of her dreams. She & her husband knew exactly what they wanted & put their trust in me to design it for them. This was a new home for them, but not their 1st kitchen renovation. They were very informed clients & knew exactly what questions to ask & how the process should look. A really big want for the client was to have an island. She had been elsewhere & was told it wasn't possible. Although snug, an island was designed with angled ends to make the work areas function and the flow of the traffic areas acceptable. Despite being snug, all pathways have a 36" clearance. I will let the before & after photos do the speaking for this one. I think they kind of tell you everything you need to know. :-)
FORTHCOMING
This kitchen was designed for a local surgeon and his wife. They were down-sizing from a larger home to a smaller home and needed their new space updated. The cabinets were designed in Diamond Reflections in a traditional white door style. This was one of my favorite projects to work on because the client was so awesome. The connections that we as designers make with our clients is really a special one for so many reasons. One, you just spend a lot of time together during the design process. Add in the wait time for the cabinets, then the installation of the cabinets and potentially countertops, and you have spent upwards of 6 - 9 months with the client. That's a lot of "get to know you" time! At the end of that entire process, you have given that client (if done properly), the kitchen of their dreams that they will spend many years, if not a lifetime, in with their family and friends making memories that they will have for years to come. That bonds you with people on a whole other level. This, for me, is the very best part of my profession.
